The test is designed to be accurate for people on a normal diet. 150 g of carbs is not really that much. A bowl of Shredded Wheat is almost 50 carbs - without the milk. Three days of taking in this many carbs should not be a problem. If you are under control, it should be no problem. Again, this is the recommendation of the American Diabetes Association (http://www.diabetes.org ) and is listed in their current recommendations (http://www.diabetes.org/clinicalrecommendations/Supplement101/S5.htm ).

Passing out from the carb load while you are in the lab could be a problem. This has happened frequently. There has been quite a few stories of people slipping past the rotating arm on the lab chair and busting their head the floor.

On the other hand, unless there is a particular reason why the doctor suspects that you are not being well controlled on your diet and meds., any additional IGTTs should be few and far between. Hopefully, you should not have to go through this too many times. :-)
