Treatment for Ovarian CystsFrom: David (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 28 Feb 2002 13:06:00 -0600 (CST)
My wife has two Ovarian Cysts in one of her Ovaries. We don't know if she has PCOS or just normal ovarian cysts (if there is such a thing). Her GYN prescribed Alesse, but she has now quit due to side effects (dizzyness, numbness in her arm, headaches). He now is recommending a different birth control pill (Yasmine). She is reluctant, however. My sister is a Vet and says that for animals they give a single shot of prostaglandin-f-2-alpha and that takes cares of the cysts. Is there a similar treatment for humans? What about surgery? She would rather have something quick and painful than long protracted symptoms associated with the pill (maybe not the choice I would make, but it isn't me). Anyone have any ideas? We are trying to find another GYN for a second opinion, but we are moving out of the country in 2 weeks and may not be able to get an appointment in time.
