Treatment for Ovarian Cysts

My wife has two Ovarian Cysts in one of her Ovaries. We don't know if she has PCOS or just normal ovarian cysts (if there is such a thing). Her GYN prescribed Alesse, but she has now quit due to side effects (dizzyness, numbness in her arm, headaches). He now is recommending a different birth control pill (Yasmine). She is reluctant, however.

My sister is a Vet and says that for animals they give a single shot of prostaglandin-f-2-alpha and that takes cares of the cysts. Is there a similar treatment for humans? What about surgery? She would rather have something quick and painful than long protracted symptoms associated with the pill (maybe not the choice I would make, but it isn't me).

Anyone have any ideas? We are trying to find another GYN for a second opinion, but we are moving out of the country in 2 weeks and may not be able to get an appointment in time.
