For your first test to establish insulin resistance, you need to eat like a "regular person" meaning the recommended daily allowance of carbs and other foods for your stature. This will establish for the doctor that your system is impaired, i.e. it cannot subsist healthily on a "regular" diet. This will prove to the doctor that you are indeed insulin resistant, and you can start treating this with your doctor's approval and assistance. Later tests will help to establish how well the low carb diet and possible medication and lifestyle changes are helping you, but it is very important to get a baseline (starting) test first, both so that your doctor doesn't think you're a hypochondriac, and so that you know just how much a "regular" diet affects your body. So to clarify: Only pig out on carbs for three days before the *first* test. After that, continue with your diet, as we want to prove to the doctor after the initial diagnosis that you are improving. :)
