Pcos, steroids, BCP,weight gain....From: gnat (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 27 Feb 2002 10:28:29 -0600 (CST)
I think I have PCOS. I have always(from infancy) been slightly overweight. In highschool I developed pretty bad asthma(allergy related). A few times I was put on steriods. I was also on and off BCP for my horrible periods(endometriosis). Now I am 28 and 205 lbs. What can I do to get rid of all this weight, and why aren`t girls warned about the side effects of these medications(long term). I eat a great low carb diet- and exercise 45 minutes per day(4-6 days per week). I have been exercising since August of 1998 and have not lost any weight(if anything gained at least 10 pounds). This is so frustrating. I go to my OB. He did my LH/FSH levels and tehy were normal. I do have polycystic ovaries, obesity, some hirtuism, and hair loss. I`m so afraid that he isn`t going to take me seriously because I have normal fertility.(4 children in 7 years) Help!
