First thing you should do is go to http://www.pcosupport.org and learn about PCOS. It is a great resource. If you do have your PCOS under control, your IVF will be more likely to work. Glucophage is a drug that you have to work up to. There is no medal that you get for putting up with the side effects. Start out slowly. If you can take 500 mg without problems, cut a pill in half and try 750 mg for a week then go up to 1000 mg. If you cannot take 750 mg, cut the pill in quarters and try that for a week. Go up as slowly as necessary until you reach your theraputic level. Take the pill with your largest meal of the day. When you begin taking the second pill, take it with your next largest meal of the day. Try taking the pill before meals, after meals, in the middle of meals to see what works best. Try not to eat high carb meals, this can make things worse for some. Are you sure you had high FSH and low LH? This is different from what we usually see with PCOS. Glucpohage has been very good at helping women ovulate, combined with Clomid, the success rate has been even higher. For women with PCOS, taking Glucophage during the first few months of pregnancy has been shown to reduce the likelyhood of a miscarriage (a big problem for us).
