There is a genetic disorder characterized by too much iron in the blood that causes liver trouble along with PCOS and thyroid-like symptoms. Please read up and have your dr. test your iron levels if he hasn't already - the only treatment for this particular disorder is periodic bloodletting (sounds archaic but it's true) and most people with this disease untreated die of liver-related problems.
