You definitely do have the right to ask for them. Your insurance may not cover them though, if you have insurance at all. And yes, they can be expensive - a full set can run into thousands of dollars.

Some tests to start with are LH and FSH, testosterone, TSH, 24 hour cortisol (to rule out Cushing's / adrenal problems), blood sugar, insulin, cholesterol, and maybe a liver and kidney function screen for medication purposes. Those would be the basics I think. Of course there are many others that could be included!
