There are a lot of theories based on that, but it all ends up into the 'chicken or the egg' debate. I have both personally, and I know that if I eat a strict low carb diet my tsh flies high (hypo) and if I eat a lot of sugar my tsh goes low (hyper) as this has documented evidence on my blood levels and eating habits at the time. I can't tell what I had first! All the symptoms run together. All I know is that it is getting worse as I age (I've just started being diagnosed so I am not on any treatment yet).
