Re: What should I be doing?

I do not know of any sites, maybe someone else will. I use my own plan based on carbohydrate levels. I have purchased several books that list the carb, fat and fiber levels of different foods.

Basically, we need to cut out white potatoes (sweet potatoes are good and good sources of fiber - without the sugar), white rice (brown rice for the same reason - fiber), white bread (whole wheat is better - in moderation), pasta (Ouch! I know!) Try to choose food wisely, for example, grapes and bananas are low in fiber but high in sugar but apples are high in fiber and nutrients but lower in sugar. Corn is high in sugar but cauliflower is a much better choice.

I do NOT advocate the use of artificial sweeteners because they cause an insulin reaction which is one thing that we do not need. The only one that seems different at this time is Splenda. You can cook with it and it taste like sugar with no odd after taste.

There are books that you can purchase or get from the library to see what works for you. The Zone, Adkins diet, the Carbohydrate Addict's diet, Sugar busters are a few that come to mind.
