Re: Instincts say yes; doc says noFrom: Cowgrrrl (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 19 Feb 2002 22:49:19 -0600 (CST)
Hello again. Thanks for the responses. I guess I'm confused -- I thought high blood sugar MEANT insulin resistance. I can't quite bring myself to say the "D" word. The thought terrifies me. My doc said he wouldn't diagnose me until I'd had a few consistently high blood sugar readings. I'm feeling really depressed at the possibility. I've been exercising like crazy and intend to go back to the doctor for another test in a few weeks. About other tests: I've had a chem panel that included a TSH thyroid test (normal), but I don't think I've had any of my hormones tested. Are hormone tests very complicated or expensive? Do I have the right to ask for them even if my doc doesn't think I need them? I just feel instinctively that something is wrong hormonally, because of the way my moods, food cravings and skin problems cycle. Then again, maybe I'm just a basketcase with bad genes. Thanks.
