I would suggest you consider a high fiber plant based diet that is primarily vegetables and fruit that includes complex whole grains and very little fat.

More and more studies are linking the western diet to diabetes and IR and PCOS can probably be considered precursors to diabetes. There was an article about such a study in the NY Times today. I understand that vegetarians have the lowest incidence of diabetes - however, my father is both, but his diet was mostly pasta and cheese, vegetarian, but not healthy.
