Glucophage HELLFrom: TJ (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 4 Feb 2002 15:33:42 -0600 (CST)
Please refresh my memory.. Glucophage works along the same lines as Antabuse does, correct? I have had sudden diarrhea at least 5 or 6 days a week, every week, since starting it on January 2. I think I am in major denial....that little voice keeps telling me "it's ok, you're taking the Glucophage so you CAN eat carbs!" but I don't really think that should pertain to eating a whole sleeve of Oreos.. I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing that's causing the diarrhea - it's either the glucophage/carb thing or it's the no gallbladder/too much fat in the diet thing.. Either way I think I'm miserable! I can't figure out what I can or can't eat! I also don't know if increasing my dosage of glucophage will help or hurt the situation at this point. I'm going to start to cut back on the carbs - or at least give it my best shot (I have no discipline, I can admit this!). So I guess my questions are 1) could the diarrhea be from having too many carbs with the glucophage and 2) would increasing my dosage (from 1000 mg to 1500 mg) possibly stop the diarrhea or would it make it worse? Thanks for your help! Tracy
