Re: Nervous---help!?From: Kimberly (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 31 Jan 2002 16:25:25 -0600 (CST)
It has been found that even women who do not appear to be insulin resistant (as there is a debate over what constitutes proper diagnosis of IR) have benefited greatly from Glucophage or other insulin sensitizing drugs. You might want to do some further research on that topic and take it to your dr. if you're intrested. Also, I don't take Yasmin, but do take Diane-35 which I order from the internet (it's similiar to Yasmin)and I have been really really happy with it. My skin is as clear as it's ever been since I was about 10 and my periods are regular and painless. (no cramps, breast tenderness, breakouts, etc.) I tried ortho-tri-cyclin before the Diane (before Yasmine was available) and wow was I ever depressed. I have never felt so terrible in all my life. So, there surely can be a huge diffence in how one reacts to different pills. My sex drive sucks with our without any meds so I can't say if you'll have trouble there. The good news is, often the side effects of the pill go away after 2or 3 months - and also you can get back to normal quickly if you can't handle them. So I'd say it's worth a try, as you'll never know until you do. Anyway, good luck and it's great that you feel comfortable enough with your dr. to feel you can come up with a plan of your own. Take advantage of that! Keep researching and you will undoubtedly find what works for you.
