Hi there, good buddy!

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you! I've been out of town! Yes, I have been on only 500 mg of Glucophage per day now for a little over a month. I wanted to start out slow because of the horrible side effects I had last time (while taking 1700 mg per day) and because my liver function is slightly off. I have had only a small bout with loose stools and a tiny bit of nausea.

You are right - I have not been hot since I started Glucophage and I used to get some nausea in the evenings and I am not getting nausea anymore. I feel pretty good. I also got a period on my own! A full fledged one - sore breasts and all - I'm so excited! Man, I gotta get out more! LOL!

Yes, I started Spiro for hair loss at the same time as the Glucophage. I started only at 50 mg per day, though. That is probably a pretty low dose, though according to the posts from some of the other women. It seems that many women are on 100 mg per day or more. You do have to be careful, though that your blood pressure doesn't drop too low. I've heard that this can happen as some people take it for high blood pressure. The 50 mgs have not helped at all. I've heard that it could take several months to notice any change with Spiro. My doc said to wait a few weeks and if I didn't notice any change I should call her. I left a message a few days ago for her asking her if I could up my dose to 100 mg per day. I'm waiting to hear back from her.

The only real trouble I've had with the two meds is that I'm sooooo sleepy. Not weak just sleepy like I need a nap! One of the side effects listed for both medications is tiredness. I've tried to combat this by taking my meds right before bed with a snack (both meds suggest that they should be taken with food to avoid side effects). That way it doesn't matter that I get tired! I'm going to bed anyway! I've been sleeping through the alarm though....

In a nut shell, I'd say that the Glucophage is going great and I have not yet seen positive results with my hair loss with 50 mg of Spiro per day. I will let you know what results I get with the higher dose of Spiro! Hang in there, Liz! Thinking of you....God bless! Tera
