Hi, I am 25 years old and was just told recently that I have PCOS. I have been struggling with many of the symptoms for years and no dr's have even mentioned this until I switched to my new Dr. I am (um) hairy, struggle with my weight, go for months without a period and struggle with sugar high/lows. I went for diabetes testing 2 years ago when I had headaches and my dr told me my levels were normal and that I am allergic to Yeast which explains a lot of my symptoms. However it is 2 years later and I am still struggling. I am extremely tired all the time and have insomnia. Here are my latest test results: Glucose Fasting 76 mg/dL Insulin Total 10 uIU/mL TSH 1.02 uIU/mL HCG 1 FSH 1 mIU/mL LH 4 mIU/mL Prolactin 21.9 ng/mL Testosterone 60 ng/dL DHEA-S 406H ug/dL

The Dr then sent me for a 17 hydroxy progesterone test in which I am awaiting the results. The nurse said that everything was normal except for the DHEA levels which is why they sent me for more testing. But if everything is normal, then why do I get the sugar high/lows? Headaches? Light headed and dizzyness? I have been reading as much as possible on PCOS lately, do I need to be put on something for IR? or am I normal. The Dr mentioned that he wanted to put me on birth control. I have had lots of problems with that in the past(i.e. no periods at all, major weight gain, morning sickness) I also have breast cancer in the family, so I am afraid to go on the pill. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!! Nicole
