Good things about this doc - 1) never mentioned a thing about my weight (other than asking me whether or not it has been stable for the past year) 2) pointed out that birth control pills were only *1* treatment for PCOS 3) agreed that my testosterone was too high @ 62, especially since I was on bcp and bcp lowers testosterone 4) mentioned the glucophage right away as an option I was looking for things like that! I don't know if just being in this area, where all the high tech companies and ppl are who are also health conscious has encouraged innovative physicians, or what, but I am glad that I am finally getting decent health care.
>definitely look up. However, be patient, getting thyroid meds right can Dunno, this dr. seems to think that it may not take that long. I have test results from two different labs in December, and he's going to run another panel and get back to me. If this panel shows TSH still low, he'll run a scan of my thyroid to see if it is enlarged or looks suspect in any way... otherwise if the TSH is normalizing it will be a case of thyroiditis which comes and goes and doesn't usually need treatment until you finally go hypo later.
>months. Perhaps your dr. can start you on met anyway? I think he wants to see how things are going with the thyroid first, and he said it would be a good idea to see how my body is acting after being off bcp (it's only been two months now and I got a normal period this month) and to see if we can ttc on our own before trying the glucophage. My symptoms can be attributed to both the thyroid and PCOS. My PCOS symptoms other than the weight are minimal, the hair on my lip and chin are of course bothersome but manageable, the skin patches are slight, as are the skin tags, what bothers me the most is the energy level, which may improve w/proper thyroid treatment. And I've *always* had nightmares of losing my hair, having Barbie-like hair (where it looks full until you lift it up and then you see bald patches), big bald pits in my skull, etc. (since I was a teenager). My main concern is of course how I FEEL and how easily I can conceive and carry to term, and since DH and I have just barely started we still have to see what happens.
