Metformin is a drug that helps your body to use its insulin better. That stops PCOS at the start and hopefully, decreases your symptoms as well. It often takes a few months to see results (up to 6 months with hair, as it has to grow out) so you may just need to wait. Or, you could need a higher dose - 1000mg is a relatively small dose, so that's something to ask your doctor about too. The Progesterone is to induce a period. Often with PCOS we don't have them on our own, which can increase our cancer risk. The progesterone allows a uterine lining to build up so we can shed it afterwards - the period.
