I have read Schwarzbeing too, and I don't remember her EVER saying to go without fruits and complex carbs in veggies. She DOES say to restrict them, but never to leave them totally out. The only one I can recall doing that is Atkins.

As far as dieting goes, if you up the protein, cut down on the refined sugar and starchy veggies, you shoudl do well. YOu may also want to try Carbohydrate Addict's Lifespan Plan. They have a more strict but still very well balanced plan.
