Hi there, Read your post and hope this is some help for you.

Are you retaining water during the day? It could be despondent edema.....water retention that subsides after laying down for a while.I am supposed to lay down ,three times a day on my left side to create "diuresis"(ridding of excess water from ankles and tummy).

If you are eating a high protein diet,it is normal to be going to the bathroom more often, thus you will then have to increase your water consumption.

As for poor meal choices-I cannot attribute to that, unless you can be more specific what a poor meal choice it.

Are you diabetic?

There are so many different things that can cause that, but upon reading your post-you seem to have the problem during the nightime. That is a question that my doctor always seems to ask me.Mine though,is strictly because of the heart problems that I have had.I assume and hope that you don't have that. I don't get up anymore during the night-time anylonger,as I am probably ridding of excess water during the twenty minute lay down intervals,of which I absolutely hate to do.

I did have that problem though, when I first had the rare form of diabetes Insipidus.I am still not clear on it though.I was peeing like crazy, but without even drinking alot of fluids. It was diluted urine(colorless).I was told and please don't quote me on this,as I still need info myself-,that I was in ketosis.I really don't know why. It could be that you are in ketosis.Ketosis is still unfamiliar territory for myself.I think there are others more well read on that subject.

I would definitely bring the question up with your doctor-I didn't-and then I was sent to ER..totally dehydrated and electolyte balances were way out of norm.

You may just have an overactive bladder. Keep track of your input and output. Also, you may be eating foods that are diuretics and don't even know it,like strawberries, watermelons, dandelion greens, alphalfa, and many others, especially cucumbers.Or,you can be defcient in sodium,as we with watching our diets, may just not be ingesting enough salt for some fluid retention.

With the pituitary gland controlling anti-diuretic and diuretic hormone and with our condition-the two may be related.Again-another endocrine disturbance.

Best thing to do,is ask your doc. There are many things he can come up with, with just a single urine sample.\Hoping this helped you some.
