If the cramps are happening at night when you are not doing anything it is not intermittant claudication, it is instead referred to as night cramps. Intermittant claudication only occurs during exercise. The best advice that I have if you also suffer from intermittant claudication, is to find out how far you can walk before the cramps begin, and try to increase that distance by 'walking through the pain' sounds horrible I know but is the best thing as it will increases the blood perfusion gradually. In diabetics, this is not usually a good sign, but nothing to get worked up about. You should perhaps make sure your dr is aware of it or let him know if it gets better of worse.

Good Luck and hope this helps Louise
