A suggestionFrom: Sonnet (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 19 Jan 2002 18:26:48 -0600 (CST)
First off let me say that this is TOTALLY NOT directed at anyone specific, it's just something I've noticed over the past year or so and definitely in the past few months! We all, or most of us I guess, struggle with our weight. Our society is just like that, that even if you're perfectly normal you're made to feel bad about how much you weigh. PCOS makes the whole thing so much worse. On this forum we also come in a variety of different weights, shapes, sizes, heights, etc. What bothers me is when someone posts and says, "I am so depressed, I weigh ________, and I know how incredibly ugly that makes me." First of all because it isn't true. Secondly because no matter what your number is, there is someone here higher than you! And that makes others think, Gee, if SHE is considered hideous at her weight, what am I when I weigh more? The number itself doesn't seem to matter, whether you weigh 130 and think you're unfit to be seen in public or 430 and think so. Either way, declaring that weight to be unacceptable is a negativity that doesn't need reinforcing here, and one that might hurt others! I'm sleepy this morning so I hope that made sense. Just remember that we're all suffering from a disease that hurts our bodies, none of us is automatically ugly because of it, and we're all in the fight together!
