Re: Metformin and InsulinFrom: cw (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 19 Jan 2002 11:44:18 -0600 (CST)
Hi. These were my experiences: Before I started taking Met, I had a mild case of insulin resistance that was difficult for me to prove to my doctor. My insulin level was just a little bit high (over 10). At the time, I did experience "false hunger". That was when I could eat a nice big healthy balanced meal and feel hungry only an hour later. I was "hungry" all day long, but I knew my body didn't need food. And if I didn't eat, I would start shaking and sweating, get headaches, and feel like passing out. I was eating a high protein diet more and more as my body was having a harder and harder time dealing with any kinds of carbs, even good ones. I was also thirsty too much and urinated too much, but at the same time, I was constipated. Now that I'm on Met (a very small dose only 2X per day right now) I no longer feel false hunger. I can eat balanced meals, I don't need to snack, and I can go 4-5 hours without eating again, unlike before. I no longer have shaking spells. No more headaches or dizziness. No longer constipated. No more chronic fatigue. No more muscle and joint pain. Etc. etc. etc. As far as your abdominal pain (I don't have it), that may be something more serious, and you should have your doctor check that out quickly. I do hope you feel better soon. :o)
