Any time you are going to have an invasive procedure such as surgery, it is recommended that you cease taking Glucophage 72 hours before. This is because stress, infection, etc. can cause your glucose metabolism to be altered. The Glucophage in addition to altered glucose metabolism can cause you to require insulin if you are diabetic. For women who take Glucophage because of PCOS and not diabetes AND if you are not having anesthesia (like HSG), it is not as crutial that Glucophage be stopped. I think that to be safe, I would not take Glucophage for the 72 hours, then restart it after your stressful day is over. :-)
