My visit to the dr and a request for prayersFrom: Kristy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 16 Jan 2002 21:39:17 -0800 (PST)
Hi everyone, I wanted to let you all know that I saw my dr today and the appt (visit) went great. She said that I'm in the clear as far as infections. She did a wet mount to make sure and when she came back in it was like her eyes were dancing with joy. She was so pleased. The reason for the being clear of infections so far is b/c of being on the Ovcon. I told her that I wanted to stay with this one for a while. She asked me what the differences were in it and the Ovral and the biggest difference for me was that so far no yeast infections anymore since the one over the holiday. She also explained to me that the changes in the vaginal flora when we take certain things is what makes us prone or not prone to things like a yeast infection. I asked her if this had a connection sometimes to BV (Bacterial Vaginosis). I didn't ask about GBS (Group B Strep) b/c I forgot. I asked her to up my spironolactone (this I use for my hormone problem-Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) b/c I needed a little more help even though it's helped the excess hair growth. She upped it to 100 mg which is fine with me. I will get really hot hands again like I did a few years ago but I'm willing to undergo that for the sake of trying to finish with the weight loss so that I can get down to where she wants me to be weightwise. I should have asked her why 130 but forgot. I will try to remember to do that the next time I see her. She said she doesn't want to see me again unless I have any problems so that's good. She also told me that on scheduling surgery to hold on until she's on the AvMed list and to keep checking back every so many weeks to find out if she's on the list. For now I am willing to hold on and pay out of pocket to see her b/c I refuse to go to the gyns that they have currently on the plan. So I got my samples of Ponstel as well as more samples of Ovcon. I'm set on that for about the next 6 months it looks like. So that means one less prescription to fill at the pharmacy. She also gave me a new script for my Lortab (here it can be called in regardless of the strength) and so that was taken care of for me. One of the things that I like about my dr is that not only does she care about making sure that I stay healthy gynwise but she cares about my overall health (which I'm glad for) and even gave me the name of a rheumatologist that I can use since I can't see the one I've had for the last 10 years. She also knows my current PCP (the one I switched to before the ins officially changed) well (that's why I did it the way I did). I wanted to make sure that I had two drs that could keep an eye on me and take an interest in all of my health issues. This PCP that I have wanted to see all the records from my current drs so that she could get some kind of an idea on what was going on. And like I told my dr today I set it up the way I did (b/c she mentioned that the PCP is right across the hall) so that in case something ever happened that I got real sick for any reason that they could tell each other that I need to be seen right away. Hopefully a situation like that will never happen but sometimes you just never know. So my next task is to go ahead and set up my annual exam and I will do that some time in April unless I have a problem before then. If I do and my dr thinks it's serious enough (like my infections usually are) then she will tell them to work me in. One final thing. I would like to make a request for prayer and thoughts . One of my dr's assistants is pregnant by like about 26 weeks and I'm very worried about her. I asked one of the other assistants about how this girl was doing and she told me that the dr had to put her in the hospital for preterm labor. I don't know if my dr will put this assistant on bedrest until she can get to at least 30 to 32 weeks or even 36 or 37 (this is when the baby will be having lungs that are fully developed so that if she goes in to labor at that time the baby won't be born too soon) weeks but if that's the case I won't be seeing her for a very long time. Her due date is in March but this assistant said that she may end up delivering in Feb. My request is that would you please keep this assistant (her name is Wendy) in your thoughts and hope that she can hold on until her actual due date? This girl means very much to me (as much as my dr does to me). This girl has been one of my biggest allies just like my dr has. She's also been very protective of me. One of the reasons this girl is so special to me too is b/c I remember well when she miscarried. When she miscarried in 2000 I had called the office on a Fri to ask a question about something and the receptionist that was working there at the time said that Wendy was out sick. I was hoping that it was just a cold but I had the feeling that something was seriously wrong. When I talked to Wendy later I found out she miscarried so yes my worst fear had come true. I've gone on long enough so I will close. Thank you all for your friendship and support. Luv ya. :) ===== Kristy :) http://www.geocities.com/sokokl/kristyspersonalpage.html Hoping to be a nurse soon but for now just a Medical Secretary who does a lot of learning from reading on the Net, books, my dr(s), as well as sharing my own personal experiences.
