Re: Looking for answersFrom: Holly (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 16 Jan 2002 21:01:47 -0600 (CST)
Hi, I can totally relate to your doctor problem, and I sympathize with you dearly. I went for YEARS mistreated and undiagnosed. Finally, I'm on the right track. The girls here on this forum were a big help to me as I read the postings and learned what was wrong with my body. The glucophage was a good start for you as usually insulin resistance plays a big role in pcos. But it sounds like that isn't the only answer for you. I can tell you my personal experience. But it doesn't work for everyone. I made phone calls, and found a gynecologist that specializes in fertility problems and pcos. She immediately put me on a birth control pill called Demulen 35, and I know there are a few others that work well too from what girls on this board have written. In less than a year, all the cysts on my ovaries disappeared, and my balding and facial hair growth stopped cold. After a year, I went on glucophage, and that got rid of the other symptoms I was suffering from. Now, combined with a balanced, wholesome, and sometimes organic, diet; and a good exerise program, and plenty of water and rest and supplements, I feel terrific. There are some other options that also work for many of the girls here. Feel free to ask any questions. We are all here to give you our advice and opinions that can help you decide what is best for you. Best wishes.
