Re: Operating on Cyctic OvariesFrom: Belle (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 14 Jan 2002 16:53:18 -0600 (CST)
The types of cysts that you describe are not characteristic of PCOS. There is a problem with the name of what we have. You do not have to have cysts in order to have PCOS and if you do have cysts, you do not necessarily have PCOS. The surgery will probably be like the one you had before - laproscopic. It is not a terribly long or difficult procedure. With each surgury there are risks. Usually the greatest risk comes from the anesthesia. Talk to your doctor about your fear. S/he should be able to give you more information to help you feel more confident about the decision you may have to make. The cysts on ovaries do have a tendency to go away on their own. Relax as best you can. Your body cannot heal itself as well if you are in a stress condition.
