Maybe you could just bring up how happy you are that they diagnosed you as IR and that you are glad you have lost x pounds or stopped gaining weight or whatever the glucophage has done for you.

You can mention how a lot of women on this board went undiagnosed for decades and how much worse their symptoms got.

You're a good friend to be concerned.
