Hysterectomy/Ovariectomy to control PCOS?

Hi Ladies!

As always, I appreciate having this board as a great resource! My question is, if one cannot or does not want to have future children, wouldn't an ovariectomy (removing the ovaries) control the symptoms of hyperandrogenism? Particularly in those who are not insulin resistant? Since ovarian cysts are often responsible for a significant portion of the androgens in one's system, it seems to me that removing the ovaries would eliminate the cysts and therefore the androgen problems. I hope I don't sound totally crazy...I know it must not be this simple...just a random thought. Your thoughts on this would be appreciated!

Love, Chris
