Glucophage question

I just had an appointment with an Endo, and while he agreed that I probably have PCOS, he wouldn't put me on Glucophage. His reasons were that there was recently a study done, but the results haven't been official released yet. He said that the branch of the study that only focused on diet and exercise did better than the branch who were taking the medication. Has anyone heard anything about that? And with him being so reluctant to prescribe it, should I push him to get the script or should I just try another doctor? I am in Maine, and am kind of running out of options...not all that many endos in the area. Any advice or knowledge would be great! Thanks.
