Hi! Well, I made an appointment (two actually) to see about PCOS and especially IR. Of course I have more questions.

One is related to Barbara's. I too am very scared about a sudden weight gain. If I do have IR, can it be controlled by diet alone? Or will it get worse over time but more slowly? I would like to try just diet and not glucophage to control my symptoms (a diet low in carbs DOES slow my facial hair growth! Must be at least a little IR) but I don't know if I need glucophage to help in the long run. So I am worried that by just using diet, that my IR will get worse and that my symptoms, like weight and hair, will get worse. Right now I am 5'6'' and 135, which I am pretty much happy with.

My next question. When is the best time to get hormones tested? Also will a recent bcp stop affect the results? How long should I wait to get hormone tests done after stopping the pill? Can LH and FSH be tested if I am on the pill? Does anyone know of a source for this information.

My gosh, more... How can/does being on bcp, even monophasic, make IR worse?

Not a question... I have Vaniqa that I used 3 times and don't plan on using (irritated my sensitive skin). Does anyone want to buy it from me? If so just post and I will give you my email.

You guys are great, Missy
