Re: I m my second pack of orthotrycylin and i have a question about the greenpillsFrom: Belle (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 10 Jan 2002 21:05:32 -0600 (CST)
The inactive pills are just there to help you remember to take the pill at the same time everyday. They do not contain hormones. The way it works is that kind of tricks your body into thinking you are pregnant. You have a certain level of hormones for the light blue pills. The dark blue pills contain a different and higher amount of hormone levels. The green pills are for the time when you should be on your period. Are you taking the pill as your treatment for PCOS? If so, you shouldn't be. The pill with the different hormone levels is really only good for birth control only. For PCOS, the pill with a constant level of hormones seems better. If you are taking the pill for birth control, they should work even on the days you take the green pill. That is what they are designed to do. At 16, you should consider why you need to be having sex. I have seen many teens who have ended up with things that they did not anticipate like a pregnancy, infections, and sexually transmitted diseases. Pregnancy can occur even if you are on the pill. They are only 99% effective. If you miss a day, or if you take antibiotics, it lessens the effectiveness of the pill. You can get diseases even if you are on the pill. It does not protect you against sexually transmitted diseases. Sometimes women think that if they are on the pill, they are safe but this is not the case.
