Prednisode is also very addictive (physically) and has a lot of side effects and warnings associated with it. You should in no case ever be on it for longer than a certain time, measured in either weeks or months (not certain) but certainly 3 months or less... usually about 3 weeks I think. Then you get WEANED off it gradually by cutting the dose each day for a week. I am NOT KIDDING you HAVE to wean yourself off it and NO LONG TERM USAGE.

My sister was on prednisone for ***six months*** and then the DR told her to go off it and she broke off immediately, he did not warn her to wean herself off it, and she had a psychotic break three days later (I'm not saying it was only due to the prednisone, but I believe it was a large contributor).
