My mom was never fat, but her abdomen is also inflated. She is very sensitive towards wearing tight pants. Her tummy also goes up and down during the day.

I consider myself roughly 120 lbs overweight at last measurement, which was about 6 weeks ago at the doctor's office. I tipped the scales at 260. That is the most I've ever weighed. The weight did not come on suddenly that I noticed. It seemed to creep on from age 14, although I can't say I was ever big on monitoring it, ignoring it was more my style.

I told my sister in law that I needed to lose 120 lbs, and she blinked and said I couldn't weigh that much. So I guess I don't look it, but I think I really do. How can you not at a size 20-22?

I'm 24 btw.

One of the reasons I'm not counting pounds but rather inches in my diet, I could care less what I weigh, it's what clothes I can fit into and what ugly fat goes away that I'm interested in.

I was normal at 10, never watched what I ate... it wasn't until 13 or so that I noticed weight gain.

Maybe the protein diet is not exactly right for you. Or maybe it just coincided with a greater onset of symptoms.

I'm still at a point where I have no idea what will help me. I am not on any medication yet and the hyperthyroid is I'm sure causing more trouble. Hyperthyroid can cause destruction of muscle mass so I can only imagine the protein diet helping me rather than hindering me.

The thing is that I don't feel any different than I did at 17, before taking birth control, although I feel very different than I did while taking it. Now the doctor says I am hyperthyroid, but he doubts I was at 17. Well why are all the same symptoms happening now as when I was 17? I had blood tests drawn at 21 and no one mentioned anything about my thyroid.

Honestly I don't know what condition any of my symptoms relate to these days. All I know is that I am gradually figuring a couple of things out by trial and error. I cut out all sugar and caffiene at the start of my diet 4 weeks ago and two days ago I ate 3 pieces of chocolate, an andes mint and two mocha chocolate truffles, and just about died right there from the onset of symptoms. Stomach pain, immediate dizziness, a headache that gripped the back of my neck up to my skull and held on like there was no tomorrow, tightening and tightening until I thought I was going to burst. I know those headaches but connected them with stress. Now I know better. It's a food thing. Now I know regular chocolate and caffiene do that to me so I know to avoid them.

I don't have any answers for you, I'm just starting the fight myself. I've never fought my weight, just ignored it.
