There is also the possibility that it is just the PCOS. I have had trouble in the recent past with spotting, just enough for a panty liner, and I do not take spiro at this time. This is fairly common with women who have PCOS. It would be very hard to tell if is it the spiro or the syndrome itself. Do a search on this board for spotting or re-ask your question without spiro in the title to find other women's experences with spotting and PCOS. You will find many women who have spotting come on suddenly and without a history.
