Re: Day 1..... Living with PCOS.....From: Lori (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 9 Jan 2002 08:54:09 -0600 (CST)
Like everyone else so far has told you.. it will get better.. much better.. For me, it was actually a relief to find out that many of my symptoms actually could be grouped and given a name and a treatment.. I realised that I wasn't a failure, but a victim of PCOS. One thing I learned is that you must be well-informed.. research the net and follow this forum.. if your doctor is not offering you a treatment you have heard about here.. challenge him/her.. ask questions and demand answers.. afterall PCOS is not only an infertility issue.. it is also a general health issue.. many other problems stem from being untreated or incoreectly treated. Please don't consider this a 'bad' thing.. I have learned from reading many of the posts in this forum that there is hope.. several women have PCOS and have conceived.. if anything, it forces many of us to learn as much as we can about our health and our bodies, making us respect even more the miracles of ovulation, conception and child-birth. I was dx in Dec, 2000 and have been on Metformin 1000mg/day with a modifed carb diet since.. I lost weight and began ovulating with the help of clomid at first but now ovulating on my own.. I'm not preganant yet, but this is the closest I have been since my hubby and I started trying 10 years ago.. I will not give up and either should you.. my mom always says to me.. 'what doesn't kill us makes us stronger'.. well I am strong and you will be too! Good luck and I will keep you in my prayers.. Lori Dx 12/00, ttc#1, 1000mg/day Metformin
