Glucophage is a medication and you do not increase or decrease it on your own.

Outside of the fact that you are not qualified to change the dosage on your own, there are logistical reasons why you would want to consult a doctor. Insurance will not refill your prescription too frequently. What will happen when you increase your dosage? Won't you run out before the end of the 30 day period? If you are paying for the drug yourself, the doctor may be able to up your prescription to 850mg tabs which could be more cost effective for you.

You may want to try to find a doctor with a better working knowledge of PCOS. While not all doctors are familiar with the problems associated with PCOS and the current treatments that are available, some are.

Research seeems to indicate Glucophage will be of benefit you if you have PCOS whether you showing indications of insulin problems or not. Insulin resistance was not a requirement to be involved in the research projects in all of the ones I have read.
