Hi Gemma...I would try to get yourself up to 1000mg a day. Your doctor would not have put you on it if your insulin wasn't out of whack. I would never recommend to go on metformin if your insulin was fine. 1000mg may be harder on your system but may help you out. If you find it making you too sick, break the pills in 1/2 and try 750 for a few days or a week first and then go to 1000mg. Good luck. I think most of the girls here take 1500mg, that's what I took when I was on it. Just be carefull that if you feel very sick and weak to back it off again, we don't want to see your insulin get too low. Good luck and please be carefull.
