It's true that PCOS is not something that can be cured, they think it's a genetic problem. But, it's a disease that is very, very manageable! If you know all you can about it, and get proper treatment (including careful monitoring of your blood hormone levels etc. as well as medication) your life can be as normal as anyone else's, it shouldn't present any more problems for you. But if you stay in the dark about it and don't treat it, it gets worse and worse and eventually can lead to more serious problems that can't be cured, like diabetes. It IS totally scary to be diagnosed with something you don't know about. But there are ways of dealing with PCOS and lots of information out there to help you understand what's going on.
