These pills have three different colors indicating different levels of medication, right? While the birth control pill was designed only for the purpose of preventing pregnancy, the monophasic (one level of medication) seems to work best for us. The pills with three different levels seem to be too weak to counteract the PCOS problems. All oral contraceptives have the side effect of reduced glucose metabolism, a problem that we already have and do not need additional difficulties with. For this reason, as well as others, I recommend you find a doctor who is familiar with the *treatment* of PCOS.

The pill is not a treatment for PCOS. It can make things worse. Please go to http://www.pcosupport.com to help you find information on appropriate treatments for PCOS. They should include treatment for insulin problems. You can also do a search on this board for BCPs.

The spotting may indicate that the progesterone level of the hormones you are taking is not high enough.
