Re: New PCOS PatientFrom: Sonnet (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 28 Dec 2001 23:10:21 -0600 (CST)
Hey Michaelanne, I'm glad to hear that you're getting your PCOS treated at last! What an experience to go through, with that much bleeding and no help! Ugh. Are you seeing an endo now? If not, you might want to consider it just as a way of keeping your health as good as it can be. PCOS is an endocrine disorder and endos are generally the most up to date on how to treat them! As far as the Met (Glucophage) goes, give your body time to adjust to it. This can take even several months. The GI effects can be awful, but they usually DO go away if you can stick it out. Pay attention to what you're eating and see if there is anything specific that throws you off. Try taking pills on a full stomach, before and after eating, with milk, with some carbs, without any carbs - just play around with it a bit until you find what works best! 15 pounds in a month is a great acheivement! You should be very proud!! The meds and diet should help you continue to lose weight. It's not a definite thing, but it should help. Be careful on the Atkins diet - many women find super low carb like that to not be as healthy for them as a moderate low carb diet (like CAD, Schwarzbein, SugarBusters etc.) can be. It all depends on what works best for YOUR body and what makes you feel the healthiest! Best of luck!
