New PCOS Patient

Hi. I am 21 years old and I was diagnosed a year ago with PCOS. My doctor didn't seem to think too much of the condition or the fact that I was bleeding faster than I could change the pads for 26 days at a time. I finally went to the doctor when I couldn't do much of anything I had lost so much blood. I was on BCP's for 6 months and then went off them.

I started having more problems and I switched doctors. I found a doctor who really cares and took the time to explain the treatment options that he was comfortable with. I am currently on Glucophage 500mg twice a day, and the BCP's. I am planning on starting the Adkin's diet this coming week, but with the holidays, I knew it would be pointless to try now.

What can I expect with the meds and the diet? I currently have a three day period that is extremely light and just wonderful. I am not having any cramps at all now. I have a lot of GI symptoms as side effects of the Glucophage. I throw up a lot. It doesn't usually bother me too much though.

Are there any tips that I need to know that will help me to lose weight and get my body back in a healthy state? I am miserable right now with the weight and all that. I have lost 15 lbs. in one month on the Glucophage and I have to get my pills refilled tomorrow. That will be my second month of all the new meds.
