Brenda,

There are a number of things here in your short post.

1st - the increase in symptoms and problems after a miscarriage may not be a coincidence. Many women complain of increased symptoms after a pregnancy or after getting off of the pill. Our bodies seem to have a difficult time adjusting to fluctuating hormones. If the miscarriage was very early, a DNC is sometimes not warranted.

2nd - there is a thing called diabetic mastitis which causes lumps in the breasts. You do not have to have diabetes to have them. They are usually benign. It is a good idea to have mammograms and ultrasounds to keep an eye on any changes but it is torturous to do repeated needle biopsies.

Last - with the abnormal cells, you should call and make an appointment with the surgeon. This should be a consultation appointment. They should take all of the time required to provide you with answers to every question that you have before the surgery. If you are unable to do this (the holiday coming up has caused crowded schedules), you should ask all of the questions that you want before you sign the release papers for the surgery. DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING until you are comfortable. This will be a rule of the hospital as well. If you say to any nurse or doctor that you still have questions, the entire process of preping for surgery should stop until the questions are answered. Write all of your questions down before you call or go to the hospital. The anesthesiologist will have control over any questions you may have about the safety of the anesthesia. The doctor's head nurse may be able to answer some of your questions but keep in mind that if they are not looking at your chart, you may get general answers that may or may not pertain to your particular situation.

Good Luck.
