Re: Lis - is that you? (long, sorry)

I'm so sorry to hear you aren't feeling so well! Yes, I do believe that the continuous flow of bile was the culprit for me.. I would experience such a burning in my insides, from my stomach all through my intestines. I could hardly eat anything; I would get bad pains in my stomach no matter what I ate then would end up rushing to the bathroom with diarrhea. This went on for several weeks - I lost 10 lb from not eating (of course I've since gained that back). I wish I could tell you what I did that made it feel better, but I think for me it just took some time. I was very careful about what I ate too - very little fat but even that didn't seem to help. I don't have that burning feeling anymore but I still occasionally have the whole urgent diarrhea thing. THAT I think is from my colitis though. My gastro just a couple of weeks ago sent me for an EGD to look down my esophagus into my stomach and duodenum and found that I have Barretts Esophagus along with some crazy inflammation all throughout my system - we don't know what that's from yet (now he isn't exactly sure if I have colitis or not). So on Christmas Eve I had to go for a small bowel series (God - barium is just DREADFUL!) to see if that could shed some light on things. All of this, and I haven't even started the Met yet. I keep putting it off because I didn't want to suffer with the bad effects through the holidays so now I will probably start it after the new year. I found some info on what the possible after-effects of gallbladder surgery are at this site: http://www.medhelp.org/perl6/Gastro/archive/Gallbladders.html . It put my mind at ease a little to know that others had similar problems; everyone else I had spoken to kept telling me what a breeze it was and it made me so frustrated! I'm so sorry you are having a hard time; hope you feel better very soon. Don't be afraid to talk to your doc though; it's been over a month since your surgery and I would think you'd be feeling better by now.. Please keep me posted, and feel free to email me off the board if you'd like to talk more.

Take care, Tracy
