Maybe pregnant?

Hi all, and happy holidays:

My girlfriend thinks she might be late, in an unplanned type of way. I'm 20, she's 19 and in colllege.

The reason i put "thinks" in there is because she doesn't know if she ovulated last month. We flew out of state for thanksgiving and she bled very lightly for 3 days right before our vacation. We were both under a lot of stress at the time. That light bleeding was right in the middle of her cycle, right at 2 weeks. I thought I read somewhere that under high stress, sometimes a woman won't ovulate and the bleeding in the middle of the cycle could be an indicator of that.

It's now almost six weeks later and still no period. She's shown no signs of early pregnancy, as far as I know. I've looked all over the internet for any type of "Early warning" checklist, and she's not suffering any unusual symptoms.

I've got a patchwork theory in place that she might not have ovulated last month and dropped her uterine lining (i think that's what it's called) mid-month. The end of her cycle came and there was nothing left that needed to be discarded. So no period there. The new cycle starts up normally. She's not due for what would be her next period until a week from now I think. Not being qualified at all in anything of this nature, I'm not going to get our hopes up too high about it. We're going to do a pregnancy test as soon as I can see her again, because I don't want her to have to face the results alone.

What do you think. I'm very worried about this, but only because I fear her father :). I make enough to support a family and we had already planned to marry, only a little further down the road. Thank you all for your responses, and sorry about the length.
