Gemma's right about everything else but NOT BANANAS!! They are one of
the simplest carb sources out there, along with watermelon. They are,
of course, good for you in other ways (like providing potassium!) but
for those of us with PCOS, they really should only be eaten with some
protein to balance them out. The same goes for certain high carb
veggies like carrots and corn.
If you must have carbs, go for complex carbs (like whole grain stuff,
the less processed the better) and protein. Moderate fat is okay and
can even be good for you if it's the right kind of fat (helps cells
recognize insulin better, or so I'm told.) Try nuts, they're great snack
material and high protein. Rolled up ham and cheese is good too. I'm a
huge fan of apple slices with peanut butter.
