My update on the 2nd opinion

Hello Ladies, I had my 2nd opinion on Thursday. I just haven't had a chance to type it here. The Dr. I saw confirmed PCOS but also suspects something else. I had 6 vials of blood drawn at my clinic to test my levels---prometrium, free testosterone, thyroid antibodies (since the standard thyroid test only tests your thyroid FUNCTION), a CBCI platelets manual diff? (don't know what this is), and also a Von Willebrands factor screening to see if this is what's causing the prolonged bleeding. I'll get these results next month before I go back on Jan. 17th for a follow up.

Now, here's what I haven't heard come up in discussion. This Specialist wants to give me an IUD called Mirena. This, in combination with Clomid is supposed to help me ovulate and cycle and prevent the amounts of bleeding that I've been having. She said I'll still bleed every day, but not nearly at the same amounts that I have been. I've never heard of this Mirena IUD and would like to know if any of you are using it or know anything about it. Personally, I don't WANT to be bleeding every day--that's my biggest concern right now (along with constant weight increase). I'm due to get the Mirena on Jan. 17th, but if I don't see any difference by the end of Feb., I'm going to ask for one round of the Lupron Depot shot I had previously been on. This way, I can have the bleeding stopped and also have my symptoms reduced. This is so I can ENJOY having DH home from cruise in March and be able to fully enjoy our Honeymoon in April. Who wants to be bleeding and still having their raging symptoms on their Honeymoon? Not me!

I was just wondering if any of you had heard of this cause of treatment so I can get a better understanding of what to expect. I don't know if Prometrium will be a factor or not, but I'd just like to be able to enjoy my DH homecoming and our Honeymoon. After that, I don't mind going back to this cause of treatment, but I just want some relief to get me through March and April. Is that so much to ask? Thanks for your replies.
