Re: Adalactone, spironlactone and other medications to treat Poly Cystic OvariesFrom: Belle (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 7 Dec 2001 23:46:53 -0600 (CST)
Spiro and Aldactone are the same drug. Do you have a higher dosage or something? Was the doctor aware that you were already taking this? Even if this was the doctor that prescribed the spiro, unless they were notified of it on the day of the visit, they may not have realized that you were already on this. This drug can effect your blood pressure and you should check on the dosage that you are on. Typically, the tri-phasic birth control pill does not do well for us. They seem to allow the PCOS to progress unchecked in our bodies. If it works for you, great but you may want to consider a mono-phasic pill. What is the doctor doing about the PCOS? Are you on any medications to help with the insulin problems? The birth control pill is not a treatment for PCOS. For further information, you can go to http://www.pcosupport.org or type in PCOS into any search engine and find many sites that give good information about the current treatment options for PCOS.
