Kristin:

Glad you're feeling better. If Prozac is working that well for you, it's correcting a chemical imbalance in your brain. Your doctor may want to ATTEMPT to withdraw you from it in a couple of months but you may be one of those people (like me) who need a daily antidepressant to correct problems with their brain chemistry.

I take 50 mg. of Zoloft a day and have for almost 6 years now, since 6 months after the birth of my second son. I, like you, am a 'normal' person when I'm taking it. I have tried to go off it a few times and every time, I feel so horrid and depressed I (and my hubby!) can't stand it. I've finally realized that some of us have brain chemistry problems that we are lucky enough to have found a cure for. I suffer from depression that can be severe, but I forget I do when I'm on Zoloft because it works so well.

If you are doing really well on Prozac you may want to just ask your doc if you can stay on it. If he insists on seeing if you do better wihtout it, get him to agree that he will write the scrp for you again if you need it . .if YOU think you need it. If he refused, find another doctor. AFter all, you're the one who has to live in that body, not him.

Hope this helps.
