If you were truly out of hope, you wouldn't have posted here looking for answers - it was a really positive thing to do, give yourself the credit you're due. There are women taking more than 1500mg of glucophage perhaps you should ask for an increase. Other thoughts - 1) you're not eating enough or not eating the correct things. I found a wonderful article on diet and PCOS at this site: http://www.obgyn.net/displayarticle.asp?page=/pcos/articles/pcos_and_diet_mckittrick If you are not consuming enough calories and are taking glucophage you can become hypoglycemic - which is one of the reasons we take it - ironic. It sounds like you may not be eating enough from what you describe. 2) perhaps the birth control pill you are on is causing depression, there are a variety of formulations, perhaps another type of pill would be better for you. I know that in the past, before my PCOS diagnosis that I couldn't tolerate the pill, it caused me to be profoundly depressed. 3) perhaps you need to get to the doctor for additional blood work to see what if anything else could be going on I'd like to recommend two books 1) Women, Weight and Hormones 2) Screaming to be heard both by Elizabeth Vliet, MD Please try to be good to yourself, find at least one enjoyable thing to do each day.
