Re: While sick I skipped period while on pillFrom: Belle (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 1 Dec 2001 21:57:22 -0600 (CST)
Have you been taking antibiotics or anti-histamines recently? Have you been running a fever? These can reduce the effectiveness of the pill. This does not mean that you are pregnant but it may have caused your body to metabolize the pill at an accelerated rate and you may not have gotten the full benefit of the ingredients, so you may not have had a sudden drop in your progesterone levels to induce a period. You may also have had a change in your body that requires a stronger pill. You could have other things related to the uterus itself that is preventing the flow from coming mechanically. I think that I would contact my doctor. Then, of course, there is the possibility that you could be...I was with my 1st, seriously. It was the first month that I managed to take the pill correctly every night for the entire month. The previous 12 months, I had usually missed one day, or took it at 12 when I should have taken it at 9 one day, etc. I was sick that month and had a strep infection. This is more common on a tri-phasic pill, you may be on a mono-phasic pill. With double protection, chances are strong that it is not possible but you should take a test before starting your next pack of pills.
